Sensors ECCO Energy will help you to stay on top of sensor technology

Sensors

Sensors have become the cornerstone of lighting control strategies to promote
efficiency, energy conservation, green building and sustainable environment. ECCO Energy will help you to stay on top of sensor technology and advances, to deliver the right lighting at the right time. The combined effect of multiple environment sensors and personal controls operating together brings unparalleled energy savings to spaces that previously had none. Eliminate 40%-60% of lighting energy costs by combining dimming, daylight harvesting, and occupancy sensing.

A sensor investment is money well spent. Where utility rebates are available, sensors can pay for themselves in less than one year. Even without rebates, most pay for themselves in just two to three years.

Sensor Technology

  • Advanced Passive Infrared (PIR) detection and lens optics for detecting small motions at great distances
  • Passive Dual Technology (PDT) – technology to literally “See & Hear” occupants in areas with obstructions
  • Daylight control sensors ensure adequate light levels are maintained according to a programmable set-point value during any daylight condition

ECCO’s Solutions to Manage Lighting

  • Occupancy sensing in locations with long unoccupied periods
  • Sensors in places where users don’t control lighting equipment or controls are not reachable
  • Dimming controls in closed off rooms for exact light levels for varying needs
  • Daylight controls in areas with abundant natural light

EPAct 2005/ASHRAE 90.1

To promote the use of energy-efficient lighting in commercial and industrial buildings, ASHRAE 90.1 requires manual or automatic controls or switches that allow occupants to dim lights and turn them on or off. The Energy Policy Act of 2005 (EPAct 2005) allows building owner to deduct the entire cost of an interior lighting upgrade subject to a maximum of $0.60 per sq.ft. if bi-level switching is installed, lighting controls meet ASHRAE 90.1-2001, and lighting power density is reduced by at least 25% to 40% of levels prescribed by ASHRAE 90.1-2001.

One of the most overlooked energy-saving tools is the light switch. Lighting accounts for 30 to 50% of most commercial buildings’ energy use and about 17% of total annual U.S. electricity consumption. Simply turning off unneeded lights can reduce direct lighting energy needs up to 45%, so the economic and environmental impact of eliminating lighting waste can be huge. We’ve got the solutions.
